WE heard the F111 from our suburban
Brisbane home which is 15Klms from the City. It certainly boomed through the area.
Bloody noisy though....it even scared our brave Golden Retriver.

Since when have Golden Retrivers been brave, I grew up with them and they all were far from brave. The cat ruled the yard from memory.

Hush your mouth....our Retriver does not appreciate such comments! She knows where the silver is when a robbry comes top visit. Brave is as brave does.
Your must have had a deprived upbringing if you allowed the cats to rule your backyard.

River fire is a once a year event to open the river festival . Half an hour of non stop fireworks and fly past of F111s with afterburners lighting up the night sky .

Hi Troopy
That's right, I was racking the old
grey matter here trying to remember what was in September.
Oh
well, maybe one year we can get back up to Brissy about then so I can show Muddy how us Brissy people celebrate.

Good show that , seen it once about 14 years ago Does
Townsville still have that big show on the Strand, I seen that one when the Army had their ultimate Off roaders the Blackhawks doing a Demo just off the Strand I think that was 1989 or 1990

Was watchin' the footy on TV from the Gabba, the commentary team gave
Malcolm Blight heaps for getting a fright when the f1-11's went over!
Poor ol' Blighty!
Wish he was commentating on more games, he's so much better to listen to than all the other "experts".
Cheers

The F111 is an impressive bit of kit.
I was on a bushwalk in about 1992 in the Mt Kaputar National
Park. We walked for 4 days and didn't see another sole, or evidence of one for that matter.
ANyway, on the morning of day 4 we were trudging along when we heard this terrifying noise. We started looking at each other then looking for what was causing the noise. An F111, wings swept back popped up out of the valley and tore over our heads, just, we all ducked and turned to watch the F111 drop below
the ridge above us. If
the pilot had seen us he would have wet himself. Five big burley men, intrepid adventurers all emerging from under bushes, logs rocks etc pretending we weren't scared.
Well I was pretending, and if the others weren't scared they did a good job of convincing me otherwise.
We still talk about it and laugh.."....the look on your face when..."......
