We are looking at leaving our van at Fitzroy to do a few day's on the
Gibb River Road. Does anyone know much about either the Fitzroy C.P or the
Fitzroy River Lodge? In particular, do they charge a fee to leave your van here and how much?

Sorry, I can't answer your question, but the Fitzroy Rover Lodge was a pleasant surprise and much nicer than I expected. Although the food and drink was a bit expensive, it was a small price to pay.
This place has a massive open area for
camping. We got there early and picked a spot, and before you know it someone else pulls up and set up right near us - there was freakin acres of free space all around us!!!! Perhaps they thought we could provide some warmth from our body heat.

Hi Lyds,
I have struck the same problem, We love our privacy When
camping. Its seems to be City people who want to
camp allmost on top of you, perhaps their scared of bunyips
Cheers Pete

I agree.
Fitzroy River Lodge on its own just East of the river. We were there in May 2004 and some people we met did just what you have in mind. They stayed a couple of nights first & then one night after. The storage fee was only small.
IMHO forget the Fitzroy C.P. right in the centre of the locals town West of the river and near the locals
supermarket.
