Hi everybody,
Have a PTO winch fitted to the Nissan. I found a few drips of oil from the gearbox so drained it and resealed it (I thought). I put 80W oil as per most vehicle gearboxes back in it but reckon it may be too thin as I still have a leak. Any experience of the correct oil to use - it did look pretty thick.

Yes it is the genuine Nissan winch and it is leaking at the winch drum not PTO takeoff.

Hi,
I recently fitted a ex-wrecker nissan PTO to my Patrol. The guy who did the welding (raised and moved back 3 inches) advised to use 600W gear oil - and NOT with hypoid (sp?) additive as it eats the bronze bushes. He suggested trying the local steam train enthusiasts - Shell,
Mobil,
Caltex all sell in 200l drums, you need about one litre. The Pennzoil distributor happily sold a 4 litre bottle. This is in NZ, but you should be able to find a local distributor over there.
Cheers,
Terry
