Just wondering if anyone has done a 4 inch
suspension lift to a 78/79 series? For the money 2 inches just isnt enough....

i don't think it'd be too hard being a solid axle vehicle. have you considered a sping over in the rear (put axle below the sping pack) it gives about a 5" lift i thing then jkust do coils and castors in the front

"2 inches just isnt enough"
I guess there are people here that wouldn't argue with that :-)))
Depends on why you bought the vehicle. Big tyres is the best way to improve clearance. For most 4wders, 2 inch lift with a rigid front end vehicle is fine. I've not had an issue with clearance.
Not too many would use the 79series as a weekend warrior because the wheelbase is too long, and the ramp-over is the problem.

Got to admit the question has to be asked why you actually want the 4" of lift? The only thing it will do is make the vehicle more unstable and ride a lot more harshly (rear leaves particularly). You still end up with the same clearance to the diffs as an unlifted vehicle. The only real way to increase "clearance" is bigger rubber.
Try to work out what tyre size you are going to wear (33" of course ::wink, wink::) and design the
suspension to have as little lift as possible to clear your tyres.
For further information it may be worth looking through the National Code Of Practice For Light Vehicle Construction and Modification
