Well with less than two weeks to got before heading off to cape york for a month I was under the car just checking things out and just stair ring at the cv joints (boots)
and thinking about everything bad that could possible go wrong miles from anywhere on our trip. Then after about five minutes of looking blankly up at the car I had this feeling to recheck the cv boots (checked them a week ago when fitting new shocks) and found a ten millimetre split. So went and changed the boots today and when cleaning up cv before fitting back found pitting on bearings so replaced cv. It just goes to show before a big trip or any trip for that matter it pays to check and recheck as I must have missed it the first time and would have been a real downer on our trip.
And now on brighter subject.....I got the MTR's fitted last week plus new shocks and 10000lb ox gets fitted Thursday and then cape york here we come (cant wait).
Not really running to any schedule just going to plod around for a month and enjoy some well earned R&R.

regards ross

Got back from Cape York three weeks ago. Have fun.
As I found out it's no matter how much you plan and prepare and what spares you take. Things come at you out of left field.

Fan blade through the radiator and two broken wheel studs :-(
Wheel studs are being picked up under warranty. Got a fight on my hands with Toyota regarding the radiator.

How did you fan blade go into the radiator, water crossing ?? or just let go.

Heard wheel studs going on a few vehicls now ........ thats a big concern will have all mine checked at next rotation of the wheels.

Water crossing. I know of another two vehicles that did the same thing around the same time.

the fan is too close to the radiator on the L/C only takes a splash to have it happen.
