I don't like the Navmans ,I have too many dicrepancies with them, I like the Garmins, the software can be loaded onto your PC or Laptop , can add waypoints, make routes, and records your track for over 4000klms and can do trackback, check out the specs on this little beauty.I love it and you will too

Doug,

I too have been looking at the Navman as well as the Garmin. Shops have not beeen too helpful, just wanting to make a sale but not knowing what they are selling. What you have said is that the Navman cant have software downloaded to it or on to PC but the Garmin can, is that correct?

Thanks for any help or recomendations.

As far as I know the software with the Navman can't be used like the Navigator 6 of Garmin.I don't think you can use it on your PC as you would on the GPS , My opinion is that the Quest far out performs the Navmans, just read the specs for the Quest and you will see , do a comparison ,Navman is not compatible with OziExplorer mapping software ,and have a look at this page full of info and links and Navman gets a mention 4 times only ,remember the info is mainly USA locations in this link

One other point about the Quest is that when you do need to connect it to the PC you don't need power supply ,as it has it's own battery, where as the Garmin 2610 of which a lot of people do buy [ and it has the same software ] but to connect it to the PC you have to stuff around with 240v power supply,Also the truckies have told me it won't stay where they put it on rough roads, The Quests window suction mount keeps mine in place on any terrain, just have to make sure it's bottom has a good place to sit on. I seen a bloke with a TomTom in a 4x4 stuck on the windscreen and nothing under it for support .It would have to flicking up and down the old eyes would not keep in focus.

I looked at the Navman 330 as it is very good value. I ended up spending the extra dollars on a Garmin Nuvi 300.

The Garmin calculates the route much quicker - you only appreciate this when you have missed a turn in heavy traffic and the unit recaculates for another route.

The Garmin power cable allows you to attach the power cable to the suction cup bracket. Much easier to remove the unit when leaving the car.
