Not 4wd but hoping somebody can shed some light. Our power went out last night at about 8pm and is still not back on. Power company advised it would be back on in 20 minutes when phoned (not sure how 20mins turns into 12 hours). Anybody know what happened?

No idea about there, but it happens about 3 times a year here. Average time out is 6 hours. That's why I have a generator in the garage. I'm the only house in the street with lights :))

We spent the night
camping inside our house. Thank god for
camping gear. The lanterns were a lifesaver. Left the engel sitting in the middle of the lounge this morning with all our meat, milk etc in it. I guess we'll be having steak that's defrosted for dinner tonight...

The el cheapo generators will run a (small) freezer and a light. Use the
camp stove and light to
cook with. It's a great excuse to go
camping without leaving home. Of course it would be nicer if you could choose to do it instead of being forced to do it.
I know some people who bought a small 12v TV so they had something to watch. Apparently they run it off batteries.

ahhh the things we miss when we dont have them, we have been working hard to make sure we tell people when it will come back on...accurately! Doesnt always seem to work tho sadly, its never an easy task.

You are right Bonz, and of course it can happen at the most unplanned moments. Of course inside
camping is fun, just a test to see if you are awake. Sometimes we wake up in the morning to find all the sensor lights are on, we may not have planned that, chit happens.
Glad we have you mate, we would miss you like the lights out. Must be time for another barby.........

I hope everybody was ok. Saw helicopters and heard lots of sirens. Still wondering when we'll get our power back though. Must have been a big accident.
