Hi
After doing an exhaustive search on the Bushman fridge, I still want to know a bit more.
Are the owners of the Bushman fridge (50 Litres) still happy with them? ($1000)
The controls are at the bottom of the fridge. Is this awkward to get to in a vehicle?
ACDC said they were Reefer fridges. Having done some research I'm not sure this is so??
A 4WD place in
Ballarat has got a 40 litre Engle on special for $1200. It includes cover, baskets, another little fridge for drinks, temperature guage, hat etc. Would I be better to get this?

Lachie,
The Bushman is totally different from a Downunder fridge which are you refering too?
Downunder/Reefer are identical fridges. both made by RueyShing.

Hi AC DC,
I meant downunder.Thanks for replying.
The reefer has a different box, handles, etc. The reefer has a rotary compressor and downunder doesn't mention this. Talking to salesman in
Geelong and at downunder themselves they say they are not reefer ( that doesn't mean anything though )
The story is the chap from downunder broke away from evacool and started his own fridge business ??

Lachie.
Reefer have two lines of fridges, the model they produce themselves with the rotary 240 volt compressor and inverter, and the model they purchase from RueyShing which is the same as the Downunder which is also purchased from RueyShing and rebadged.
I believe Bushman have just changed from a Danfoss compressor to a Electrolux compressor which uses more power when running but runs for shorter periods.

Hi Lachie,
I have had a Bushman for 3 years or so & am extremely happy with it. I use the high lid all the time & I have just returned from a 3 month
camping trip through Central Aussie & the Bushman was great. It is very quick to lower temperatures & seems to be very economical on 12v power. I just run
mine off 4WD battery (single battery onle - but I have a power pack back up) & I have run it for 2/3 days sometimes without running the vehicle & the 4WD still starts with no problems.
Not sure about your comment about the controls - they are at the top of the fridge & very easily accessed.
I also know of 3 others with Bushman's & all highly recommend them,
Willy

if your referring to the 50l [$800 repco]DOWNUNDER fridge the only problem ive had with it is the first time i pushed the 240v lead into the socket i broke the plastic socket which they fixed on warranty & were pretty good to deal with other than that it works a treat & hasnt missed a beat have it up full in
the desert & the 80amp battery lasts for two days before recharging.it has a danfoss compressor.cheers
