Hi all, has anyone fitted an Eclipse AVN 6000 in dash GPS navigation system or a Toyota in dash GPS system to their 100 Series Landcruiser? I would like to know how these units perform or any problems that would make me think twice about paying out lots of $$ to have one fitted they are about the same price. I like the idea of in dash and wish to install a reversing camera that plugs into the back of the unit I know you can plug one into the Eclipse but can't find out about the Toyota unit.

Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter, I have an in dash navigation system in my Toyota L/C. it is a factory fitted unit and is standard my model Toyota. Not sure if this is what you are after. However the navigation system fitted in my car works great, it does away with the street directory and has a host of other features. Would not go without it from now on. It is extremely accurate. The only down side is that it has limited use in the country apart from major roads. The system is based on the "Whereis.com" road system and is Australia wide. Hope this helps

Cheers
George

Peter,

Checkout the following web site
Site Link

This is the installation of a camera in a 120 Prado which has the same satnav as a 100 series I think.

So you can do it on a Toyota unit.
Only thing is Toyota won't tell you that. But the Lexus has a camera and the unit is the same.

The camera he used is an eclipse also.
You can get others that will do the job and maybe cheaper.
An interesting unit on ebay mounts on the top of the number plate.

Cheers
Garth

As long as your Landcruiser has the standard Toyota double DIN sound system now, I think you'll be surprised at how easy it will be.

I was looking at this system in a dealers in Melbourne yesterday, and we are going to go ahead and get one. We've just sold our Kluger Grande, and really miss what was a very effective nav/sound system. The AVN 6000 is quite a step up.

Our plan is to install it into a 2005 RAV, which is our normal use car. But, next year when we set off for 3 months around the country, we're going to have the installer shift it over the the new Hilux. Once we get back, we'll probably end up leaving it in the Hilux, and by then something else may be available for the RAV. Otherwise, it will be shifted again.

Thanks jb747, I'm going to get one but I noticed that the Whereis DVD has a edition 13 comming out in October so I,m waiting till they have sold all the units with the 12th Edition in them (hopefully).
I've decided not to install it myself as I want them to connect 2 cameras to it and that will take me ages.
