Hi All,
Ww are wanting to
camp near
Carnarvon NP in late September but not in the standard campground as I believe it would be packed. Just looking for somewhere within around 30 minutes as we want to meet up with some firends for a few days and this area is around the half way point between where we live. We probably won't even go and do the walks but instead just laze around and catch up.
Somewhere with
water and relatively quite also. Does anyone have any ideas?
Regards
David

Hi David,
I see a trek on Expidition National
Park on this site. I have not been there but it is in the right area for you and sounds interesting enough so this may be worth a look???
Regards, Trevor.

Grungle,
Lake Nuga Nuga NP and like David says Expedition NP. Part of Expedition Np is Lonesome Np which is just off the main road and very scenic. There is also Takarakka Bush Resort where you can
camp and that is the closest
camping to the NP.
You might consider Mt Moffatt Np which is accessed from
Injune or
Mitchell and is a quieter less visited
park than
Carnarvon. The little town of
Injune has a good caravan
park so that might be something you could think of. Then a bit further east is the town of
Chinchilla and there is good
camping at the weir there.
Or you could
camp at
Mitchell which is a great little town. There is a caravan
park or you can
camp out at the weir. There is an artestian
bore swimming pool in town which is worth a dip.
Hope you find somewhere to suit
Best wishes
Viv

Hi David,
If you are coming from down south there is a
camp site on the left hand side of the road that is not so far from the Canarvon turn off. I can't remember the name of the place as it is not a place I have stayed as I live in
Emerald.

Chris

Hi Guys,
I've lived in
Emerald for 22 years - nearly a local. Family is into cotton but I used to run the local John Deere dealership. Since moved on to a
mine service company.
I drive a red (maroon etc) 1999 4.2 turbo GU patrol. Personal tropical Qld plates with an ARB roof rack on top. It goes very
well. I too had the gearbox problems (had 5 gear sets in it). Friendly with the local dealer / service guy so it was no problem but it did fail once out in the middle of SA. All fixed now though.
See you about.
Regs,
Chris.

I have lived here 16 years not quite local either. I worked in local kitchens as a chef until 2 years ago when got a start in the mines, was at
Blackwater now at moranbah underground, It would have been a big co incidence if i also drove a maroon patrol but alas I drive a blue 02 prado.

There is a station homestay on the way in and only half hour or so away. Warremba station is the name as indicated above. In my opinion it is the best place to stay in the area, as the campgrounds are too popular for me.

Thanks all for your valuable replies. Will look into Warremba Stn as it sounds pretty good but will have to do a few recces around the area to find future camps.

David
