Does anyone have contact details for Jerry Stanley?

He's a Boss Dogger on the Fence and lives some where around Quilpie (I think).

Regards

Thanks larry,

Do you have a telephone contact?

This is all about recording the history of the Doggers along the fence line fron SA to Queensland.

Many thanks

Hey Kim,

Don't know if you are interested or if he is for that matter but the guy living across the road from me used to work on the fence near Smith's Gate.

I could have a chat and see if he can help you out if you like.

Hi Dunc,

Yes, I would be interested in talking to him. or any other Dogger for that matter. My contact details are shown below, or I can give him a ring if I have the telephone number.

I think I've found Jerry's telephone number.

Many thanks

It would be benefitial to look up the details i provided on the web address above (even though the mobile number may be wrong).

The whitepages will only have the mobile number of his wife. You could just try that and go from there.

Kimprado.
There is a very good book on this titled "Fence People" (Dinah Percival/Candida Westney 1989) Get to meet many of the old time folk who worked on the fence.

Another one is "The Dog Fence" (James Woodford 2003)

The section NE Windorah/SW Eromanga is these days maintained by contract.

The info. on Jerry Stanley is correct.

Kim,

Further to my last reply on this the phone number for the Wild Dog Destruction Board office in Broken Hill is 08 8088 4724, Wompah (NE of Tib)08 8091 3992 and Smithville (S of Camerons COrner) 08 8091 3052.

There are new people at Smithville but Mick O'Neil at WOmpah has been there a while.

Also I have sent you a private email with contact details for my neighbour.

Hi guys,

A big thanks to all those who responded to this post. Very helpful.

Duncan , I spoke to your contact in Broken Hill and had a very good chat. He gave me a lot of information and we shared some of our experiences in the bush. Ray also has a lot of photographs which I would be like to see.

I'm a bit reluctant to contact State representatives at this stage. That can come later after I've spoken to doggers and station owners. If their not interested in recording the history of the individuals along the fence, I'm wasting my time. I also need that local community support.

Within two months I should have a good idea if this project is feasible. I'll keep you informed.

If anyone knows of a freelance writer who may be interested, drop me a line.

Regards

Kim
