Very funny..! LOL This should be in Friday Funnies..! LOL

Quote " Ended up Going the Jeep cause ya all said it was the best by far" .

I have 2 things to say to that, "If you listened and believed anyone who said a Jeep was best by far, there are medical clinics for people like you."

And secondly, "There are Medical Clinics for people like you..!"

IMHO LOL ..!

P.S. Don't go the rustproofing, otherwise the body might last far longer than the vehicle..!

Bugga, can't swear. As for beach work, better just to park it at the low tide mark and hope for the best.

"...critiicising probably driving aound some heap of sh"t like a Toyota or Nissan..."

Got it in one.

They are "DRIVING AROUND", and not "offroad jeeping" as in off the road and in the dealers being fixed yet again.

Ill take the yote or pootrol, or even a Kia anyday.......;-)

Yeh but throwing a turbo V8 diesel into a civic doesn't make it a capable 4x4.

Yeah true but after I looked at nissan and couldnt fit in it. Then toyota wasnt much better. Ford territory was comfy but lacked off road ability. Then I looked at jeep, heaps of leg room, great on road (meant to be just as good off road,so the mags all say) cheap to run, heaps of stick, merc motor and rest of car built in austria(chrysler, merc, jeep built)
I know the older ones werent great but from all reports the new one is top stuff.
Time will tell and hey I like to try different things.

Stu-k,

Good luck with it. If it suits you then it is the best you can do. Most makes will take most people everywhere they want to go so offroad capabilities is a scam for most trucks. Love the power and torque figures the jeep puts out so hope the rest of the vehicle lives up to these dizzying heights.

Regards, Trevor.

Keep it out of soft sand in hot weather. 4WD Monthly say it was only tested in cool areas.
Their test vehicle was stopped by the computer each time it over heated.
The front wheels have no mudflaps and blast the sills on dirt roads.
Heavy offroad driving has been known to cause cracks where the front joins the main body.
Squishy suspension is not suited for long distance driving on bad roads.

Let me tell you don't be fooled by the Benz bull bleep , I have a Benz Coupe and it has had quite a few little annoying things go wrong with it, and this is not uncommon. (Petrol V8) Mass Air sensors x 2 , it wouldn't idle when these went , constant carboning of the combustion chambers , Noisy engine on start-up when oil was more than 5000km's old, quiet until then. Big service bills, especially when the brakes were due, no loan car, even when the car was kept overnight unexpectedly. 2 x LCD Readouts don't work in the cold weather. Nothing major but not good for an AMG top dollar vehicle. My wifes trusted old 98 V8 GXV Cruiser with 230,000 on the clock still going strong. BMW's are even worse.

At least with Toyota and Nissan you get reliability most of the time, the Jeep is OK as a surburban cruiser but I wouldn't be going too far from a major city in one, especially off road, the suspension and other bits aren't built tough. I think that is a fair appraisal. Jeep's sell because they are considered trendy, and are unique in the looks department. If your life depended on the reliability of the vehicle I'd take a Toyota or Nissan. IMHO

Luck of the draw I`d say all makers have there probs, nissan 3lt that go bang cruiser ifs front ends that crack with rough use, 80 series td big ends, just to name a few off the top of my head.
I dont intend to cane the sh*t out of it as I do with my merc vito work van that has never missed a beat, people told me when i brought the vito they break down all the time and are junk. Mine tows up to 2 ton with sometimes a ton in the back at the same time and I have never had a prob.
Time will tell on the jeep, but no one told me they were trendy that does sux!
