Hi All,

I have just ordered a new Outback Swan and have read several posts
saying that I should request a "T" rated fridge.

I also read somewhere that the Dometic RM2350 is rated "ST" and performs up to
the "T" rating.

Is this still valid information and has anyone done this?

TIA

Tia,ido know that the T stands for tropical but not so sure what the ST stands for.We have the T one in our motorhome & it performed very well when we outback for 2 week's end of June.I know it was a lot cooler then but travelling along during the sunny day's it was icing things in the fridge section on 3 on battery power. We also did a trip the xmas before last in western NSW & it was high 30's fridge up on 5 driving along & every thing was fine,we were happy that it performed that well.

Insist on a "T" rated fridge.

Our Outback Eagle, purchased new in Dec 05 has the RM2350. It is rated ST and works a treat until it gets over 35C. Then it is lucky to hold at 8 to 10C.

I'm in discussion with Jayco. Their response is that it is not a compressor fridge and will struggle during the heat of the day and will then cool down again overnight.

I have spoken to Dometic who say that the 2350 is rated only to an ambient temp of 36C. They have a better model that is rated to 43C.

My argument is that Jayco build Caravans/Campers in Australia for Australian conditions. In Australia we often see temps of 40 or more in the summer. Hence they should be fitting a fridge to suit the conditions.

If they continue to refuse to replace it, I will take them on at VCAT (Small Claims).

Cheers,

Jim.

Jayco will replace it once you write and tell them you are going to Small Claims.
Jayco replaced my mates and his mates fridge as it was not good for what it was sold for. What damn good is a fridge that dont work

Jimbo,

How are you going with Jayco? I spoke to my dealer about the "T" rated fridge and Jayco told him Dometic don't make a small "T" rated fridge.

I assume you are talking about the RM2453? Will it fit in a Jayco Camper? The dimensions are 928 x 602 x 610 compared to the RM2350 766 x 530 x 565?

Regards

Paul
