I saw about a dozen of the new Holden Captiva soft roaders in Traralgon today, I assume they had been to the track at the Driver Education Centre in Newborough & were maybe on their way to do a bit of offroad testing as an introduction day for the dealers.

I assume they are hoping to combat the big slice of the market that Ford have with the Territory.

Shocker of a website, absolutly nothing of real interest such as towing ability, whether it is a FWD or true AWD, even if it an east-west engine...just "leather seats MP3 player", etc...

Captiva????

Where do they get these names?

Perhaps there should have been some more appropriate names for cars?

The P76 could have been called the Sphynctillius. The Camira would have been better known as the Rectima.

You've gotta love the Germans, they give them a simple number and letter code. Relates to size and engine capacity.

Buggered if I can work out the Chrysler 300 C.

Volkswagon Rollover
Holden Deathtrap
Landrover Oilleak
Nissan Boomer
Ford Skidmaster
Toyota Gearmeister

etc

Apparently the Captiva is designed by Mike Simco (Holden) and built by GM-DAT in Korea. Features Holden's new V6 but don't know if it's east west or not. Has part time FWD with locking centre diff like Xtrail etc. Does have 200mm ground clearance thoug.. more than Kluger or Territory.

If you download the spec sheet it sounds like not a bad toruing vehicle. Pricec will be a facotr I guess when they release it.

Cheers
