Anyone know if it's possible to drive from Bourke via Wanaaring and on to Milparinka using the last part of the track known as the cut line (I think) without having to travel north to Tibooburra and then back down to Milparinka?

Latest map states "track subject to closure". I was told this section of track (about 46klm) was partially washed away the last time they had decent rain back in 2000 and has not been maintained since?

Keen to find out whether it's possible to get through to Theldarpa via the most direct route. We have a GU patrol and 100 series cruiser heading out, both are well setup with good ground clearance etc.

Thanks
Brad

Bourke/Wan./Milp. is a main road straight across. Last time we did it was in good order. About 475 km. from memory

I have missed that turn evey time I have driven that road. There is a turn to the north west, which goes to Tib, at the point you are talking about and there has been an RTA barricade on the road to Milparinka.

Last time I came through that way, 2004, I was going to Tib so didn't really take any notice of it.

Going via Tib does not add much in the way of time anyway.

Gday Brad
I left Milparinka just on dark a couple a few weeks ago to beat an upcoming storm front and headed across the cut road to the Wanaaring road , didnt realise the road was closed until I got to the Wanaaring road and there were barricades across the road with " Road Closed " but I did wonder at the shires maintenance program for this bit of road as it hasnt seen any for many years , was slow and there is several gates on the road but people are using it but there a several deviations from the main road to bypass bad sections . Was no section that caused any problem apart from slowness .
