hmmm

There was one opposite my Training Centre, just south of the Isis River but it was shut down a few years back...

Other than that, I can't think of anything south of Bundy, there may be sometwhere north of bundy but I'll leave that speculation to others

cheers

Chris,

If you are into a bit of sand driving we regularly camp at the mouth of the Kolan river near Moore Park, just north of Bundaberg. No amenities but a beautiful spot for a couple days ( not bad fishing too).

I've done a fair bit of camping whilst drinking Bundaberg if that helps.

Gooday,
There is a great site on the Bundaberg Childers Road, about 1/2 way between either, actually 24km from Childers my GPS now tells me, (Girl in the Passenger Seat), it is called Wallum Reserve, toilets , about 75 yards off road great spot.

Hi Chris,
I agree with Adam's comment above.

We were with friends at the mouth of the Kolan River last weekend and it is beautiful. It is generally pretty quiet as it is a dead end and you can only access the point for about 3 hours max either side of low tide. This seems to put off a few people as you can be trapped up there waiting for 6 hours or more until the tide is low enough to get back.
Let your tyres down a fair bit as the sand here is not the nice white stuff like Fraser Island that packs hard, this is like broken bits of shells and is much easier to get stuck, especially if there is any moisture in it.
Just jump on the beach near the top end of Moore Park and once you are past the dead tree's by a couple of km you will see a few tracks heading over the dunes into the bush. Take one of these and drive 3-400 metres and you will see the water and a maze of tracks that will take you up the western side of the point. You will find many great camp sites with you tent/camper less than 8 metres from the waters edge. As Adam said you will be looking straight across at Miara C/van park. It is nice and safe with kids and make sure you take tinny's/kayaks/fishing rods if you have them.
We did not take our fishing too seriously last weekend and only fished from the bank with live bait caught in a castnet and we still caught 2 flathead, 3 bream, and a shovelnose. They were all a very good size.
Kids will enjoy shell collecting on the sand spit at the mouth too.
Sandflies were almost non-existant last weekend but in season they could be bad so don't forget the repellant.
I wonder how long before they close this area off to public access!!!

Regards,
Brett

Guys

Interesting in knowing more about this place as have been looking for somewhere to go around Christmas in that area. Do you know if you can take dogs there?

Hi Mark,

I think the area is listed as a conservation park which means no dogs but plenty of people do take dogs as there does not seem to be any rangers that come checking anyway.
The only people of authority I have ever seen in there is Fisheries inspectors check on the sizes of fish people have caught etc.

Thank you very much everyone. We were in a bit of a hurry to get back to Brissy, so we ended up chucking up the tent on the camper (first time) in the dark at Granite Creek reserve. Got some sleep so that was the main thing.

What about the National Park just north of Woodgate? Strictly 4wd access only but great little spot for the self contained. Right on the beach too.
