I am about to have a reverse camera system installed on the GU and was wondering where the best position would be.
My primary reason is to view the tow ball while reversing up to the caravan for ease of connection. The wife just does not have any skills in directing without me going backwards and forwards too many times to count.
I am also installing a camera on the Jayco Freedom pop top. Has anyone placed this on the roof lid as
mine is the fibreglass model and has a big curve on the top rear that would cause the camera to be really low if it was placed there. I'm wondering if the wiring could just run down the inside of the skirt without too much fuss.
I have looked through the archives but there is lots of discussion about brands but not a lot about what I am after.

Depends on what sort of camera you are getting. I got one from Revereseasy which is a small waterproof camera on a butterfly bracket. I installed it under the rear
barn door handle where the number plate light is. Not too hard to route the wiring and no drilling needed.
I did have to move it when I bought the dual rear wheel carrier - it is now on one of the swing arms under the tyre next to a reverse light.
If you don't have a rear wheel carrier I would recommend putting it under the handle where the number plate light is.
I can send you the Reverseeasy GU install piccies they sent me if you like. Just let me know an email addy to send them to.

Hi Patrick
Yes the best is to mount it near the number plate and follow the wiring though to the car.
The new kits we have just ordered in have the same butterfly bracket as mentioned and it is easy to adjust to suit your application.
Regards Derek.
