Evening all,

I have started installing a reversing camera to my father's 2000 Nissan Navara diesel DC ute. I have picked up the reverse light power to power the screen and camera so that it only comes on when reverse is selected. I haven't finished as there was a power wire fault and am waiting on a new one.

My question is through, now the warning lights won't illuminate at start-up or when the ignition is turned on, and the speedo and tacho aren't functioning.

No fuses etc were touched during the part install and the wires installed have been taped up to prevent and shorts. When testing the camera setup I was continually turning the ignition on and off with the truck in reverse. I'm thinking I may have inadvertantly 'keyed' a code to the engine management by doing this - any ideas???

Thanks in advance,

Tim - Stratford, Vic.

Eric,

The 'power wire' fault was with a wiring loom and connector for the reversing camera (nothing to do with vehicle) - this is why I haven't finished the installation - waiting for a new one.

I have only connected a 'power wire' from the reversing globe into the supplied loom with the camera. At the moment it isn't powering anything and has been taped up to prevent any shorts.

I didn't take any dash plugs out or 'tamper' with the fusse box inside or under the bonnet - I'm at a loss as to how this has happened but I can't put it donw to coincidence just yet....

I'm aware of certain operations with various components, ie ignition, lights etc - that can be performed on varying vehicles that will reset or test components; such as turn ignition on 5 times, then parkers on 5 times to reset alarm or similar. I'm hoping I haven't done something like this by accident as I was continually (read 15 + times) turning the ignition on to test power to camera/screen....

Any help appreciated before I have to fork out at NI$$AN dealer.... :-0

Hi,
I know with the Patrols if you have something dodgy happening with the dash lights...ie. fault etc...you can easily reset them by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes then reconnect and they are reset! I have done this with mine with a sub tank fault! If the problem persists after this you have a trip to your "friendly nissan dealer!

Cheers......................Pete!
