Hi all
Looking to up grade the standard CD player and speakers this weekend in my 05 STR Navara.
Does anyone know what size the front door speakers are 5 or 6 inches, and the mounting depth.
What about the rear doors, anyone bother to put speakers in there under the grills, is there factory wiring to there, or is it just a waste of time because they are so chose to the seats?
Thinking of installing Pioneer 6 inch Splits into the front doors.
Any help would be grateful
Cheers

Hi i fitted rear door speakers to a str the wiring is in the door only, from back of audio unit to centre door pillar there is no wiring for speakers, you also need to have a very thin speaker as where they mount is the elec window regulator, it is not an easy task if i had my time over agian i would not have bothered, it was my own vehicle and i am an auto elec also had to buy the plug to fit in the standard audio unit. cheers, Grant.

I fitted new speakers to the front and rear of
mine, fairly sure they were 6", the fronts fitted in easy enough. There is wiring for the rear only from the pillar to the door so you will need to run cable from the pillar to the head unit, unless you fit very slim speakers in the rear you will need to space them out as i did with some ply and covered with vinyl leaving the original grill off and using the ones that came with the speakers, the only problem is that they end up a bit close to the
seat and if i hadnt traded the str in on the stx i would have made up pods to move the speakers further forward. Definently worth the effort if you like a bit of quality sound.

Thanks guys
Think I will give the back doors a miss. Just fit some quality speakers in the front.
Cheers

Hi Grant
Had ours for a few months now and love it as
well, no problems and a huge improvement on the STR. So far we have used it a few times to tow the camper up
the beach which it handles
well, slowly been making a few mods such as extra power sockets for the fridge, anderson plug to supply the camper plus the not so simple task of fitting a Glind shower.
Cheers
Chris.

Chris. Have to agree on the huge improvment on the str, but it is a bit more money, so far i have fitted a second battery that was a challenge no room under bonnet, same as you with anderson for ct, power out let for fridge & i am in the process of trying to fit the helton shower, went on our first out of town trip on sat, drove from from
Forbes to
Orange & could not believe the staying power of the engine went all the way in 6th gear other than slowing for small towns & traffic any way we love it. Cheers. Grant.

Grant, I ended up putting the heat exchanger and pump behind the bull bar (alloy fitted), if you dont have a bull bar i cant see why it could not be fitted behind the bumper somewhere. just let me know if you need any instuctions on how I went about running the hoses and such

Might be larger than the STR, but when it comes the the rough stuff the STR leaves the STX in its dust, better ground clearance, better wheel travel and better load carrying capacity.
