Hello all out there .
let me start by saying thanx to the guys that helped me chose my eletric brake system I went with the Tekonsha prodigy and when I pick up my van I will know how it works??? but this post is about suspention choice I have a 98 100 ser diesle cruiserLive axle front with a TJM steel bar duel batt and a draw system cargo barier cage for my engle 40 ltr fridge and I also do carry a rhino roof basket on 3 bars I will be towing a 14ft single axle pop top windsor rapid ( not sure of weight) which brings me to what to chose Im only lifting it 2" and was going for king springs and bilstien shocks, then I was told the kings are great but the bilstiens are better suited for cars rather than 4WD so I looked at old man emu and was told KING SPRINGS good but shocks are Monros BAD then I thought Tuff dogs and was told they were noisy and often leak now Im thinking TJMs XGS??? ...guys Im like an old bear with a sore head right now and I need to buy this stuff and install it soon, as the van will be ready soon so PLEASE HELP as Im the worlds biggest Procastonator and hate the I told you so thing and all I want is some advice from people that are not trying to profit from my decision.
so thanx for taking the time to read my saga and I hope to hear from some of you soon .
Regards J.B.

Mate you'll probably get good and bad reports on all the shocks and springs you have mentioned, a mate runs Kings and Tough Dog adjustables on his 100s cruiser and is very happy with them.
IMHO don't use XGS.

Whoever told you Bilsteins are no good for 4WD's is full of it. They are regarded as one of the best for such applications.

Same again - you will unfortunately get different opinions from everyone - like the Cruiser / Patrol debate.
Go with a set up from a reputable dealer who will give you excellent after sales service - so that if you have a problem they will fix it for you - also get it in writing such as a warranty etc.
Also another suggestion is looking at getting a set of Polyair Airbags fitted when you do your
suspension - do it at the sametime and save money and they will defanitly help with the towing and load carrying.

Yep, it's one of those black/white arguments that never has a "right" answer.
Don't listen to the "OME's are just rebadged Monroes" argument. They are not. They are assembled by Monroe, but totally different shocks.
I've got the 100 TD with IFS, so not the same as you. I've got OME stuff under it and couldn't be happier. I have the LTR(?) shocks, not Nitrochargers.
The kit I first had installed finished up too soft in the back with the second spare mounted, a full Longranger fuel
tank, and all the
camping gear, so I had heavier springs fitted.
This took the rear end lift about 35mm higher again from the original ~50mm lift, but it sits down 15mm when I fill the back fuel
tank. Haven't tried, but reckon it will sit down another 25 mm with the van on.
Listen to all, then go with your gut.
Cheers

Been shopping around myself today and I finally found someone who wants to help me (as I am a retired mechanic & Spare Parts) I know who,s bull....ing he gave me 4 options but he also told me to bring the towtruck (Patrol) up and he would set up the best kit that suits me to tow a two &half ton van and carry fridge, genny, toolbox ,outboard 15hp,rhinos an boat loader and 3.4 stessl and plenty more 200 kg plus 250kg ball weight quote was bout 1000 depending on what he sets up.
Recommended for Patrol GU 4.2TD heavy towing.
Shocks, Billstine Gas, OME, XGS,TJM, has run all them himself.
Springs all 4, Lovell, 50mm lift, also change over my rear Air Bags.
Quote all fitted OME & Lovell was $960 I think its a good price,
hope this helps dj patrol

Just fitted OME springs and shocks to our live axle cruiser and what a differance it has made.It lifts vehicle 50mm from factory height so usually around 75mm.We went for load carrying springs in the rear which lifted it around 100mm but we still find the ride good empty.Due to the extra height in the rear Ive fitted spring spacers(20mm) to the front to level the ride out abit.Steering remains good(no caster correction) ,rear diff is out to the right about 20mm.
Always used OME and so far have always had a good run out of them.

JB,
I have HD raised springs on my 105 series 'cruiser and tough dog foam cell 41mm
bore.
They have actually raised the front by 50mm and the rear by nearly 75mm.
The ride is much better than the standard springs, and the rear only drops 6mm with a full load of fuel (270L)
A mate has the same fitted to his 100 series, and with a full load of fuel and horse float (horses included) the rear drops 12mm.

mate thanx for the feed back and Im going with tough dog springs and shocks with there Return to centre dampener ,as they are local ( in Blaccktown ) and I seem to hear that they are reliable and use 41mm shocks as there standard base shock which is 10mm bigger than most the other ones , which I think is a good start ?? Im just going to bite the bullet and hope for the best .
Thanx again J.B.

JB,
No problems, glad to help out. At this stage I do not need the RTC damper, as the standard damper seems to be working quite
well.
The package that I have is all Tough Dog, and was fitted by O/L
Cairns, I am more than happy with it.
