Could anyone tell me where to source a replacement fibreglass roof panel for a standard HJ60 wagon? (got the dreaded breakout again)
Can only seem to find 40-series on the net - any help appreciated . . . .

Dribbler,
There is a company in
Esperance WA that makes fibreglass vehicle panels. I don't know their name and I am not in a position to research it at the moment. I know they have adds on regional TV in WA so if you have a contact in WA they may be able to help.

Hi,
CLICK HERE and you will be taken to OzEast's website.
They are at Noosa on the Sunshine Coast and may be able to help.
I know he specialises in 40 series but I think he has a lot of moulds for others as
well. We have brought gear off them before and they are pretty helpful and can freight things if required.
My son has had several 40's and fiberglass seems to be the only answer as they are prone to the old metal cancer.
May be worth a call.

dribbler,
As Brian B says they make various panels. I bought a Turret fot my HJ45 off them years ago, fitted like a glove.
Cheers,
Bros.

Dribbler, I would be surprised if you can get one for a 60 series.
AFIK the 60 series is a different body construction to the 40 series.
I have replaced the roof channel on a 40 series many years ago, and the FRP roof attaches to a channel and then bolted to the body.
The 60 series is more traditional the way the roof is welded to the body I think.
I would be interested to know if you find one for the 60 though.
I have a HJ61, no rust in the roof, but a very small spot of rust in the sunroof.

thanx guys,
as you mentioned Dave, the the roof for a 40 & 60 series are a completely different construction -
due to the problematic second skin, corrosion is from the inside-out (removing the roof lining won't give the access needed) - so, the idea is to drill (with peripheral cutting tip) out
the spot welds, remove turret panel, grind off remaining weld tabs, then treat.
If a NOS panel were available this could be welded back in, and reckon I would be extremely lucky to find a donor wreck of same age with no rust. Thus, the quest to find a RGF panel to glue in place . . .
got 465k on the clock and still runs O.K., so would like to keep the beast alive
regards,
Dribbler
