Hi all,
I have looked and failed to find a beach camp in the Cooloola-Fraser coast region (apart from Inskip) that allows the pooch to come along too. I am not keen at all to take the dog to Inskip due the close proximity of other campers (and prevelance of louts), and was just wondering if such a place exists in this region that is beachside? The dog is an incredibly environmentally dangerous Jack Russel that apart from running away with and burying my whiting is a joy to have on the road.
Thanks in advance

If you get your self out onto the beach just North of Tewantin there is a section where there is no NP , infact looking at my maps OziExplorer the NPs don't quite make it to the beach , also I've seen many Dogs on the Cooloola Coast Beach when ever I went there,

Hi,

To the best of my knowledge Inskip Reserve is the only place you can have a dog in the area and then I think it is supposed to be on a lead at all times.

Once you cross the river at Tewantin and go onto the beach there is no camping allowed until you reach Cooloola shire where the camping starts.

While not in the Cooloola area the only one I am not sure about and maybe someone here can help you with is the old Noosa Northshore Wilderness Park which has just recently been put under new management. I think maybe the council have taken it over and I don't know what their rules are for dogs but you can camp there close to the dunes in places. To find it, instead of going onto the beach at cutting number 1, turn left just before this point and drive down the dirt road for a kilometre or so until you come accross the campground on your right.

I had a double check of the EPA website and they quote the following:

"Pets
Domestic animals are not permitted in Great Sandy National Park."

So other than Inskip I can't offer much help.

Have a good one.

Can take dogs to Cooloola but they are not allowed above the high tide mark, which is where the NP starts. Hence no camping with Dogs.

The wilderness park stopped taking dogs in Jan this year

I just tried to call the Noosa Northshore Wilderness Park which is the one down near the beach and the number was redirected so rang the mobile number and there is a message to say that the business is no longer operating.

We have booked a group to stay at Noosa Northshore park (the one near the pub) and they charge for the night before if you try and checkin before 12noon on Saturday and we didnt want to tow the camper up the beach which is the reason for staying there in the first place. I had heard from someone else that they weren't taking dogs anymore and I know the last time we stayed there a couple of years ago that there were lots of camp sites that left their dogs in camp and the dogs just barked and barked all day and drove everyone batty.

Daisygirl

Both parks no longer accept dogs.
Noosa Northshore park is run by my family and is now called Beachfront Caravan Park. The last guy who had it for 20 years has caused a lot of dramas but we are slowly sorting them out. The new number is 54 498 811. The amenities block will be revamped after the school holidays and a lot of trees have been cleared. One of the old sections near the 3rd cutting has been reopened and can provide some great views to wake up to in the morning.

Thanks for that Grub. I will call the park and see what prices, etc are like. I'm glad the other guy is finally gone because everyone used to complain about him. When I did a google search not much info comes up so might be something to look into for the future.
