I was going to have a winge about the price of fuel, but how can I when it has just droped to $1.36 lt. And there isnt anything wrong with my car at all, its just the unleaded Ive been putting in my car for the last couple of weeks is OPAL. Apparently they dont have to tell us its anything different because its all for a good cause!!!!! About time we did something to help our Indigenous brothers!!!

It's hard to gauge tone of voice over the internet but are you being sarcastic? I don't understand what you're saying. Has the OPAL damaged your engine?

Dont know about permanent damage but its not running real well and you dont get as good milage out of it, and to top it off no one was told we were buying OPAL, it was still labeled UNLEADED.
These are some quotes in the paper from local mechanics

Poor fuel economy.
Dirty deposits from the fuel on spark plugs and carbys.
Damage to fuel lines.
Lack of power and perfomance.
In severe cases, engine malfunction.
Pre 1986 vehicles and all vehicles using carbys should start using Pemium Unleaded. ( at the moment still available at a few servos)
The headlines of the Centralian Advocate Friday :"Opal stuffed our van motor" the details are from a mechanical not the van owner.
And yes sorry the post was very sarcastic beceause Ive had enough of the average worker having to pay again because some other lazy Bas$#ards cany look after themselves. Alice Springs is falling apart at the seems because of antisocal/drunken/criminal behaviour and every solution the government comes up with penalises the average person.

I think your attitude towards Aboriginal people needs work. I suppose blatantly prejudiced views like yours are the way forward are they? As for the OPAL the solution is simple, buy a diesel.

Ive worked on Aboriginal communities on and off for the best part of 17 years, spent 5 years working in Indigenous education as a lecturer and have a hell of a lot of aboriginal mates! Denying a problem exists will not improve things but only make things worse! If people arent made accountable for their own actions and are allowed to live off welfare nothing is going to change.
