Did the
Border track in my Hilux as planned this week with friends in a Land Cruiser. Were advised not to take campers as sand very soft. Did the one way section from
Pinnaroo to Borders Town. Certainly wouldn't have got trailers over dunes. Good fun, saw lots of lizards, some emus, parrots. Exited out the bottom through very closed in bushy track. Lots of fine scratches on my new car. Wish I had left track before then. Oh
well, I suppose it will get more of that in the future like my old Hilux.
Left camper at
Pinnaroo caravan park. Returned there for night. We were on track on very windy day. Unpleasant when we stopped to pump up tires.
Went on to
Murray River, via bitumen, west of
Mildura. Fires in Murray Sunset NP so didn't do Northern section of track. Told it was easy and could take campers, but radio warned to stay away because of fires.
Stayed on Linsey Island. Lovely spot on river.
Broke the top of my tibia 6 months ago. Been in wheelchair and still on crutches. Only been allowed to drive for two weeks so trip was especially good for me.

Thanks for the update Twinkles. We are heading out from
Canberra tomorrow morning. Going to visit the
Fleurieu Peninsula, Coorong,
Naracoorte Caves and then onto the
Border Track 10-12 Oct before heading back home.
Cheers
Pete

Sounds like a fine place to be indeed. Regarding the scratches, try some Meguiars wet look polish, it works a treat on my dark green Patrol (which shows every scratch).
That's a nasty break in your leg. Mate of
mine come off a motorbike and his leg got stuck in mud but his body kept going, split the fused part between Tibia and Fibia (vertically) and then broke the top off each bone just for good measure. So he ended up with 2 floating bits of bone forming the bottom half of his knee joint. Also took him 9 months to get any sort of normality back in his stride, but he did make a full recovery after about two years.
Keep up the travels and good trip reports.
Regards, Trevor.
