Hi everyone, I have a question regarding solar charging. What equipment do I need for a
solar power battery charger. I want something to keep my deep cycle battery charged when I don't have access to 240v mains power.
I have read some of the articles on here but they don't make it clear to me.
Thanks
Marc Knight

That's a pretty wide open question Marc.
Answer could be as simple as buying a solar panel probably 40 watts or greater and plugging it permanently in.
However usually an extra device , a regulator is added to prevent overcharging.
Perhaps if you said where you expect to use it and size of battery and rough idea of what you wish to run and for how long , then a better answer could be given.
Is easy to say "I want to run this and this for a week" etc however the bigger the load, the longer the time , and how sunny its likely to be have a big impact on cost and size of bits you need.
Many play safe and buy a cheap gennie to top up batteries for the odd extreme stay/load and this can minimze costs.

We do kits for your application but depending on your power draw we will design one to suit.
Best to contact me or give us more details on this tread so we can all comment.

Before we can correctly answer your question, the question we require an answer from you is:
what is the power draw per day/week from your Deep Cycle battery......
Basically you need at least one Solar panel and a solar regulator, with the relevant cable.
The Solar Panel and regulater capacity is totally relevant to your answer.
