Bull bleep , plus bull bleep and then some more bull bleep . If the Australian pricing for diesel is so advantageous to the consumer then why not include a table with comparisons of prices of diesel versus petrol around the world? Yes, we do know that we pay less tax on all forms of fuel than in many other countries but that still doesn’t justify why do we have to pay more for diesel. We should reject all the so called “explanations” along the lines of “no cyclical discounting” (why the hell not?) and the fact that we should be happy because diesel vehicles are still more economical.
Cheers

Using the same line of thought one could justify increasing the price of water to say $1 a litre, after all it would still cheaper than many soft drinks and unlike Coke or Pepsi it wouldn’t be subject to “cyclical discounting”.

What ? *shock horror* You mean you don't believe all those spin artists the fuel companies use ?
Recent excuses for diesel price increases.

China buys it so we have to pay more

Americans use it to heat their homes and in Septic land its winter

Cyclones shut down one of the oil rigs

There might be a reduction in supply cause there's a war

The Alaskan oilfields are offline due to maintainance

OPEC have a headache

There isn't much left dontcha know ?

etc etc etc

The oil companies obviously look at the quality of our elected representatives and figure "WELL, if they're that stupid, why not ?"
Why mention pollies when posting about diesel prices ? Yep, we're that stupid !

Australia doesn’t use enough diesel compared to other placers in the world to allow the price to drop as ULP does, can’t remember the exsect parentage but if 30% of all car’s on the road in Australia were diesel then we would see the price go down.

Also the amount of diesel we use is less than what we produce, that and because the barrel price is set of Singapore are the main resigns why the price of diesel stay’s up.

Well it’s something like that anyway LOL, It was explaned to me a wile ago by a family member who is in the know, and NO he doesn’t work for an oil company.

Thanks Shorty

The other day my aged mother (90) asked "what is spin doctoring?" I now have a classic example to show her.

I now understand that we ordinary people, who purchase diesel retail have to subsidise the big diesel users so that they can get their fuel at a special rate on a contract.

Sounds very fair to me, after all the current Government in Canberra is totally committed to their "god and master" i.e. very big, no tax payable, international business. Stuff the lowly wage and salary earners, and most importantly small business people.

Seems as though we should be so thankful to the huge oil companies for stooping so low as to even supply us common folk with diesel at any price.

regards
Phil
