Yeah, but being French it would have reverse direction steering, the clutch would be located in the glove box, the fan belt would run an OEM only, toothed 13.4m x 4.327mm otter gut serpentine (with the fur on the inside of the circuit) and its coolant would be manufactured from one part beaujolais mixed with 2.479 parts poodle milk and failure to adhere exactly to these ratios would result in the oak input shaft for the gearbox catching fire.

Apart from that, it'd be great (except on Tuesdays).

And the Citroens are still doing it. There was a model 2CV in the last Dakar Rally with an engine in the front and and one in the back.

Similar vehicles were used to access the northern part of the Canning Stock Route in the 1930's by Michael Terry. I think they drove rear wheel tracked Morris trucks.

The French build good cars. My first offroad vehicle was a Renault 10 and I went some places where 4x4s feared to tread. Unfortunately I destroyed the Renault...LOL
