Hi all,

Couple of questions for any 90 series Prado owners out there?
1) Can anyone who has converted their Prado to LPG give me an idea of how many KMS they get to a tank of gas on average?
2) Can anyone recommend a suspension upgrade package (and average install cost if available) for a 90 series Prado which would be used approx 70% on the highway & 30% for weekend off road outings?

Thanks in advance,

Boab

Hi Boab. I changed the suspension on my 1998 Prado from stock to King springs and Bilsten shockies at a cost of $1400 about 18 months ago.

I'm very happy with the increased stability. I have recently returned from a 6 week trip to Cape York towing a camper trailer and with a tinnie on top of the Prado. The handling both on the highway, dirt and off-road surpassed my expectations.

Hi Boab,
I just picked up my 2002 Prado with a new suspension system put in by SA Suspension. I had the Ironman system put in with foam shocks on the rear. The cost, included wheel alignment, was $1125.00

Boab

Pick my Prado up tommorrow with it new conversion. Will keep figures as to how many Kms.

It all depends on the size of the tank, but I believe with a 90 litre tank, I should get the same Kms as using the standard Main and Sub petrol tanks.

I am happy to lose a few Kms, as the price difference will more than make up for it. It also helps that in WA we get $3,000 back per conversion (state Goct $1,000, and Feds $2,000). Conversion will cost about $2,800, so getting Flash Lube ($110), new ignition leads (apparnetly make LPG run better) and using "LPG Tuned "oil (?) so all up conversion will cost about $50.

I should receover that in about 2 fill ups !!!

2yrs ago I did upsize 265/75R16 tyres and raised king springs. No probs in the running or handling. 12 mths ago did the LPG. I think about 17-18 lt/100km. Certainly have to fill up more often - its a smaller tank. About 300-320 before the low fuel light goes on. Starts fine when cold, takes a bit of chugging to start when warm (I usually start on petrol and flick over to gas).

Hi Boab

can't help on the Gas as we have a TD but on suspension I went for Lovell's heavy duty springs (with 50mm lift) and Koni shocks. Had my mechanic fit it all and I guess it cost approx 1000 - 1200 (other work done at the same time). He was a bit concerned that the combination at the front may have been too strong for the bottom bushes to handle. Have since replaced both bushes with stronger ones - have not checked on how they are doing yet.

We have found the ride much firmer as you would expect. Handling has greatly improved.

have fun
