Good afternoon all,
Was thinking today at the lights my car has done 117000kms, mmmmmm wonder if the previous owner did the timing belt? Then I relised I dont even know if my car runs a belt or timing chain. So If someone would please let me know if the rd28t motor in a gu runs a belt or chain that would be fantastic. I ask this as I cant find any service dockets to say either way.

Thanks Stefan

Don't know for sure but if it has a belt it should have a note in the Service Book to tell you it should be renewed every x Ks.

The 3.00 ZD30 has a chain.

Hi Ed,
Thanks for that, I dont have a hand book for the car so I guess 100000kms service life as per the norm for most cars?

Thanks Stefan

G'day Stefan,
Yep, according to Gregory's manual# 519 (updated edition), 100,000km replacement is the go...

Well on_patrol..... With a 3lt motor you don't need to worry about the 100000kms service interval, as thats when they replace the whole motor isn't it???? LOL

Change it NOW!!

Me mates Prado has just schat a timimg belt and completely stuffed the head. It's gonna cost a flamin' heap of $$$$.

He bought it at an auction - cheap. Ain't so cheap now.
