Howdy guys…

Just a quick minute to pick your brain if I may.

My old 60 series Cruiser sports Koni shocka’s and I’m looking to update the soft & saggy leaf spring suspension that I’ve currently got. To my limited knowledge, it seems that Kings springs are the usual match for Koni’s but are theyre any other opinions out there on what springs are the ‘ducks guts’ at the moment? (ie, enforcer, carroll, old man emu?)

Cheers in advance!

You have a choice of either replacing with new springs, or having the old ones reset with an extra leaf. The latter is the cheaper option, but needs to be done by a company that knows what they are doing. Industrial Springs in Adelaide are very good.

If buying new, there are heaps of options out there. ARB have a well earned reputation for leaf springs that give a nice ride - they were very expensive, but have come out with overseas made "Dakar" springs now. Lovells and Terrain Tamer (Don Kyatt) have good springs at a good price as well.

G'Day Ro,

From memory "Ultimate suspension", not sure who is behind them, used to set all their leaf systems up using Koni shocks, had this on my MK Patrol

Hope this helps

Check out carrolls
I have fitted their shocks in my workshop and they have impressed me.
They are the EFS brand.

Hi Rowen

Why not check with the Koni agents. Barry and the boys at Toperformance were very helpful when we set up the Pajero. They know what their shocks are supposed to be able to handle.
The biggest issue I have come across with shocks is that people talk brand names instead of combinations. The best shock in the world won't be any good if the springs are too hard or soft for the shock valving. If the shock is the wrong length for your spring travel you can rip out shock mounts or break springs. So if peoples advice advice doesn't cover the whole issue then you need to ask more questions.
Hope this helps.
regards
A
