don't these luxeon LEDs get very hot, especially behind them? All the torches i have seen them in have dirty big heatsinks!

Not sure on the waste heat generated, will just mount on a combination reflector / heatsink if its going to be a prob.
Id check my 1 watt luxeon torch, but some prick broke into my car this morning and pinched it !!!!! and a heap of cd's and my vicroads directory .......
strange dopeheads out my way. LOL.
Just thinking, if heat was to be a prob, i'd try to maximise surface contact area with the roof structure above, and use a thermal potting compound. The roof would sure suck the heat away fairly quickly.
cheers mate Brad.

I don't collect torches...they seem to breed. Started with a MagLite torch and a Dolphin lantern...now there's about 8 of various types floating around !!

Thanks Wok, first alternative I've noticed to Ledshoponline. Their service was impeccable, but I don't know if they're keeping abreast: guess they must be, or they'd go bust.
Troopydraws, we must share common (unmentionable) genes. Sympathy offered. JH.
