Further to my post 38029 where I noted that I have cracked bullbar mounts (Toyota Alloy bullbar) & some of the spot welds on the front guards have failed. I'm just out of warranty & Toyota advise they are prepared to pay half the repair of the front guards but they not interested in the bullbar problem at all.

I would really like to know if Toyota has formally recognised this as defect already.. ie: is there any Toyota documentation describing the problem that anyone knows about & I can get my hands on? (i'm finding it very hard to get anything more substantial than "apparently this is problem" or "i have heard of others with the same problem")

Have Toyota agreed to pay half costs for the repairs to the Body ? have you any cracks on the inner guards or inner wheel guards?

My 2004 120 series with aftermarket Steel Bar also developed cracks on the inner guards and wheel guards, Toyota would not fix as the cause of the damage was due to the compression of the front body mounts, Toyota I believe were doing the same thing when fitting there Alloy Bar, Check out your mounts.

I know of another 120 series with Toyota Alloy Bar fitted with after market springs and shocks and they have rejected warranty repair due to the fitting of after market shocks and springs.(His front body mounts are NOT compressed)
At this stage he is taking his claim to the department of Fair Trading. An engineer was saying that the fitmit of after market springs and shocks would not cause this problem.

Dennis

thanks for that. Toyota knows there's a problem but doesn't tell owners. Therefore owners don't specifically check for the problem during the warranty period.
