Hi

I have 2 Toyota crusiers - a 1985 3F petrol very terminal rust issues+++ and a good sounding engine.

The other is an 1983 2F petrol with good body with a major engine knock but running.

QUESTION: Are these engines easily swapable 2F into 3F engine bay??
Engine mount placement etc????

Advice sought
Cheers
Paul

Going by the way Toyota label their engines I would say there shouldn't be a major problem. The descriptions of the engines are the first letter describes the basic block and the number that precedes it is almost the "revision" or version of that engine, the higher the number the later the engine. so your 2F is and earlier version of the 3F.

I'm no expert though....

Hi Paul. You shouldn't have any problems. Did a similar engine swap in the same models you mention a few years back. The engine went in like a dream. Cheers

As far as I know, same block, different crank-rods-pistons, different head.

American 60 series landcruiser had the 2F until 87 .
There is a slight height differnce between the two with the 3F being 6mm lower which is the differnce in stroke btween a 4.2 litre and a 4 litre.
It will fit no problems but putting the older motor in a newer car may be techinically illegal.
