G'day one & all ; Need to pick the brains of the knowledgable ones out there. Have a request from a client to construct a specialized off road camper. Needs to be kept strong but light with plenty of ground clearance.Anyone with experience/knowledge of air bag suspension to suit this application? Are these systems just bags alone or bag within coil springs?Do they use a straight /cross axle or independent of each other?Have done a basic search of Archives, but couldn't find answers to the above. Many thanks in anticipation
Keep wandering, regards Bob

G'day Barnray; Thanks for the reply, it is good to see that there are some out there who don't find it difficult to be civil. When I posted those questions I was also hoping for some feedback from those who may have had some experience/knowledge with this type of suspensions. After all isn't that how we learn?

You have to start somewhere, I have been looking at building my own camper and I have designed a air bag system to fit. Time will tell if it works, my last camper didn't break so I at least will have some chance. Barnray

Am I missing something here?

Have I not understood your post?

I would have thought that if you had the expertise to fulfill your clients request then you would not need to ask the question. If you need to ask the question then perhaps you should not be proceeding with the project.

Please, Please, Please. If you are unable to do the basic research on the available suspension systems please do yourself and your client a favour and walk away from the assignment.

Ditto Ian W?

if I went to a manufacturerer to get something built and found later that they had to ask how to do it from a public forum I would be - ahh - worried?????????????

Bob&Deb,

It's hard with the written word to convey exact meanings etc; as the written word does not give tone and inflection.

Sorry if I have offended you.

In the kindest way, but perhaps not obvious to all, I would like to think that I was helping. Without meaning to be a smartarse I think the followUp from Fisho64 sort of says it.

I felt that the need to go to a public forum and ask what would be a very basic question for a trailer/body builder sort of indicates that you may not be doing yourself or your client a service by taking on this assignment.

Once again I am not trying to have a shot at you but am concerned for both you and your client.

G'day fish64; thanks for the reply to my questions. They were on my list to contact, also encompassed in my original post was the hope that there would be those out there who may have knowledge/experience of this type of suspension system, and may be willing to share that knowledge.

HI Bob
Good luck with the project. Your research, as suggested above, will reveal some good looking gear. Don't be put off by the cynics!!
Cheers, Leigh
