Hi all
I have the urge to visit Mamungkukumpurangkuntjunya
Hill that I believed to be in or near
the Everard Ranges, going by the co-ordinates.
Mimili Community say that they have no knowledge of this
hill.
Can anyone help?

Krungthepmahanakornamornratanakosinmahintarayutthayamahadilokphop
nopparatrajathaniburiromudomrajaniwesmahasatharn
amornphimarnavatarnsathitsakkattiyavisanukamprasit.

Mebbe this isnt as long but still long enough
A small place in South Africa
Tweeblouwildebeestemeteenskootdwarsdeurdiehartemorsdoodgeskietfontein
69 letters which translated roughly, means
Two Blue Wildebeest killed with on shot through the heart at this fountain
I always thought that the longest place name in SA was
Lake Caddibarrawirracanna, which lies off track about halfway between
William Creek and
Coober Pedy

Are you sure that's it's correct name. I'm no expert on aboriginal languages but a quick look suggests several words in there ??

Thank you all for your interest & suggestions
I had done the Google Earth, Hema map, Google searches etc and they all still lead me to believe that MAMUNGKUKUMPURANGKUNTJUNYA
Hill is in
the Everard ranges near Mimili and pretty close to
Victory Well campining ground.
The Mimili Community of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands say that they have no knowledge of a
hill of this name. Maybe it is a sacred ground, I don't know.
Because
the Everard Ranges area is a native lands area it is not possible to wander in and do a recce.
So, at the moment, it looks like my quest may be unfulfilled.

Maybe they mightn't want to talk about the location due to its meaning........

Woodsy,
I lived in the central desert region for some years and speak basic Pitjantjatjara. The name you suggest is not familiar in any way.....to me at least. It looks to me as a combination of words/adjectives that may have a very different meaning but certainly does not correlate with local dialect. Are you sure this is a singular name or an interpretation of a sentence describing an area of some significance.

Morning Toytruck
Thank you for your interest
The name, Mamungkukumpurangkuntjunya
Hill, is credited by Geoscience Australia as the longest placename in Australia. The spelling I got from there.
However a Google search does bring that name up a few times.
GoogleEarth does not recognise the name.
I also looked in the search section of the AusAnthrop aboriginal names/language database but there was no result

Thanks Andrew (QLD)
I have located the area on the normal maps and will pop into the map
shop to look at these more detailed maps.
But I have just about given up as it appears that the aboriginal community in the area are professing no knowledge of this feature and don't want you in there visiting at our Australian landscape anyway.
Thanks everyone for your interest and help.
