Can anyone inform me of the track conditions from the Old Telegraph Station at
Eucla to the old jetty. I realise it is only a short walk, however the passengers I have cannot walk even those distances. Any Track notes, etc would be appreciated.

Hi Dave
I haven't walked the track from the Old Telegraph Station to the old jetty.
But the walk from the car
park to Old Telegraph Station is soft sand and hard on the calves so I would think the other would be just as hard

I would not normally reply to this Dave as my info is about four years old now when we last drove to the jetty, but in the absence ao any newer reports here is ours for what it's worth.
The track then was a little soft in a couple patches but we did it in the 80 with highway pressures without difficulty and found the right track without directions ok.
Basically just follow your nose & most tracks will lead you there eventually.
Not much left of the old thing now but it does make a good photo subject with the right light conditions.
Regards
Neil.

Dave,
It's many years since I drove to
the beach at the jetty (the jetty was intact in those days, and I used to fish off the end, so that's how long ago it was), but then the sands were always changing, so there was no definite track; it just kept changing from week to week.
A check with the locals at the Amber motel might give you an update on conditions.

Hey Dave,
Last year while visiting my brother at (Moopina Stn.)
Eucla, he drove us over to the jetty without a prob. in a LC ute. Must admit it was after good rains and also low dunes going in from the west at that time.
But as mentioned, the drifting sands can change daily specially in Sept. winds.
If you would like a few pics of the area please post me your e-mail addy
I lived in the remaining
ruins at 'old
Eucla' for about 13 years (1948-1962) as my family owned the 'township' many moons ago. They signed it over to my brother, and he handed over to National
Heritage (or whatever it is over there) when the ridiculous and un-affordable public liability insurance came into being a few years back.
My Dad built the first Motel (now used as staff quarters) on top of the escarpment right on the corner of the old
Eucla Pass which leads to the Old Telegraph Station.
There is an interesting little museum at the Amber Motel worth a quick visit too.
Cheers
