well, funny you should say that, i was going past the local supershiza the other day, actually looking for an ally trunk / toolbox. they had awesome fully welded, waterproof with lipped top, checkerplate ally boxes. I grabbed a smaller one for $ 170 , and why did i buy it even though it was twice the price of a shizer version?

It is actually made in aus !!!!!! SO they do have some decent product. ( i said some LOL)

Hi All,
Considering the range of stuff Supercheap carry, to only have five items currently listed for recall must say something!

Not sure what.

But it would be interesting to check on the recalls issued by GMH, Toyota, Nissan and Ford, in fact all the vehicle manufacturers, to see how they compare.

I know it's a bit like comparing apples with oranges but still interesting!!!!

Try looking at recalls for Jackaroo TDs only - will keep you busy for a while, trust me!

That is five current recalls. There have been heaps more in the past.

I returned my large trolley Jack last year because it did not comply with relevant "safety standards". The sticker on the jack said it did.

A large company such as this should have some up front quality control in the interest of public safety.

Hi All, again.
Just a relatively small point in regard to recalls generically.

A mate of mine worked in another well known auto parts establishment about a year ago.
They had to put out a recall on a particular trolley jack that was considered unsafe.

What made it unsafe????

"The Split pins used to retain the wheels were not closed over sufficiently, thus exposing the user to potential injury if bare skin came into contact with the wheel/axle assembly."

IMHO what a crock of sh*t.

Thats NOT to say that some recalls are not serious issues, but some times one must wonder what is going on with the relevant authority's investigators.

Perhaps they are sick of issuing recalls for Jack TD's and need a little light humour to brighten their days. Needless to say this sentence is typed with tongue firmly in cheek (literally) .

Cheers

Some years ago I bought a Daewoo Lanos for my ex as a run-around (good little car too!). About 3 years afterwards I received a letter from Daewoo with a small adhesive sticker in it and a note asking me to put this sticker on the jack. Apparently they had been ordered to do this by some government department because they weren't complying with some standard or other: the sticker read something to the effect of "Do not go under the vehicle when it is supported by this jack". I was a little surprised there wasn't another one saying something like "Do not hit yourself around the head with this jack"?

Of course no one is against safety but we have now such a forest of legislation in place that it makes it almost impossible for small businesses to design, manufacture and market anything. Simply the resources required to get many products through the "Approvals" process is more than many can afford. We'll end up at a situation where we kill small business and innovation - if we haven't already?

Can't be too bad, made $28,900,000.00 profit (up 11%) on 525,900,000.00 turnover (up 14%) last year.
5.5% profit, but then I get a better return on my money at the local building society.

All the current recalls are Super Works brand. Looks like buyer be extra wary if buying this brand.

The interesting thing is that they only offer a full refund - no suggestion of a replacement with a real one!! The real ones must be too expensive!!!

Returned my jack yesterday, thanks for the head-up Doug.

Shop claimed that they knew nothing about it, after the manager made some phone calls they agreed to take it back and asked if I wanted an other jack to which I agreed.
Grabbed an other one and I was informed that I owed them $ 20 dollars.

So I demanded my money back, after a while they gave me $ 45 back, was a good deal for a jack I used for 3 years :) and bought on special
