The photo is of the American X-Terra. Has been on the market for several years. Nothing new. Actually IFS only, rear is beam axle, leaf sprung.

I stand corrected, It is an Armada as described in the thread
Xterra would be the better fit for our conditions.

Does not seem much cross-over left hand drive to right hand drive with some of the lines like the 4.2 cab chassis. There are left hand drive Patrols on mainland Europe but we don't see much of the American crap. Hope it can be maintained that way.

I thought the warranty for Nissan in USA was pretty short...
Every Nissan is backed by a 36-month/36,000-mile vehicle warranty coverage and a 5-year/60,000-mile limited powertrain coverage.....

I read some time ago that Nissan are looking to produce their Navara, Pathinder and Patrol on what they call an "alpha" platform. THis means that the next generation patrol will definetly have IFS, however the patrol like the navara would retain Live axel rear. Nissan want to cut costs so essentially a patrol will have a wider chassis then a pathinder but in all respects be identical. This will allow Nissan to produce the patrol cheaper along with PAthinder etc. So all the Nissan fans out there who have a love affair with the patrol front diff get ready for a divorce, because it will soon be lost forever. Rumours where that Nissan would also go to constant 4wd, alla landcruiser. Once again showing the front diff will drop in size, so as to maintain horsepower. However in true Nissan style when you buy a patrol it will have the same front end (grill etc) as a Navara and Pathinder, so much for independence. It will be a sad day though to see such a reliable motor such as the 4.2 being replaced. You think they would replace that bucket of bolts 3.0lt motor first, no offense guys, but honestly why put a small motor in a huge 4wd.

Turbo,
The 4.2 is only being replaced cause it can't meet emissions laws as of next year. Someone in the know told me just the other night, the 4.8 litreT/D, Nissan has been working on, keeps spitting mainshafts in the auto box so it looks as if this motor won't be ready for release as soon as they had hoped so probably the 3lt will have to hold the fort in the diesel Patrol segmaent.
Mark my words, Nissan won't let Toyota have all the fun, so if Toyota release their 4.8 twin turbo with big Neddies you can bet Nissan will be aiming for similar figures out of thier 4.2 replacement. Sadly though I think it is inevitable the live front axle is all but gooooone in the next line up of Patrol.
Regards, Trevor.

Will be interesting to see if the move to independent
suspension will hurt Nissan. Must be a few Patrol owners in having a bit of a cry now too.

Far Canel
Bean counters and thier ifs, emmision hoopla and cr@ppy designs.
Sell all this Rubbish to europe and give us what we want: live axles, coil springs, large capacity low-tech turbo diesels, slightly rounded cereal packet design and a big chome bits at the front.
Looks like the toyota 79 series for the next truck (and if that comes out in ifs.... I will have to build bridges like the
Sydney Harbour one and buy a dreaded Defender). Or just keep the GU until it literally falls apart, then burn my licence and
jump up and down like a crazy monkey until someone put me out of my misery :)
As for the TI coming out in diesel: finally, took them all of 20 years to notice (probably gonna take them another 20 to realise it should have the 4.2).
PS: Better not be Toyota owners playin silly buggers or look out!
