My new caravan has a Hyland Hitch with a Hayman Reece Load Distribution set up as advised by my caravan dealer.
Each time I've hooked up my 18' caravan the Hyland Hitch slid onto the towball but the small hand grip and lock would never fully click down.
Thanks to this
forum, I found Darren Hyland's phone number, and just as local
forum members stated, Darren was over at my house later that day and fixed everything; and threw in a free towball.
He has real business integrity - he didn't want to charge me a cent!
For anyone whose having trouble with their Hyland Hitch, here's what I've learnt from Darren.
Hyland Couplings have always been manufactured to fit a 2,500 tonne towball up until March 2006 - and Darren always GAVE his customers the correct towball.
Darren Hyland now manufactures all of his Couplings to fit ANY towball size.
I happened to have a hitch that had date of manufacture as March 2006; and my Hayman Reece towball was 3,500 tonne; hence the incorrect fit on my rig.
If anyone needs to contact Darren Hyland his telephone number is 07-3200-6267 and he's at Beenleigh,
Brisbane, Qld.
Cheers,Mike

Hi,
I have been using my hyland hitch for approx 2.5years now on my camper trailer.
The hitch has never let me down, even when I had hit a few holes, and watched in the side mirrors as the trailer gets airborne.
I would recommend this practice, but the hitch stood up fine.
Good luck in the future
TonyG
