I was speaking to someone today who told me they had heard that a new lift kit was available to give a 4" lift to IFS 100 series - this is a new kit, not just a set of replacement torsion bars. Can anyone shed any light on this for me please??

I don't know if it is the same but 4wd monthly had a write up on a new kit last month . It is made by Macquarie 4x4 and is only 65mm on the front and 40mm on the rear they use body spacers on the front so the factory CV angles are not changed . It is not cheap at $2800 fitted but that included new Bilstien shocks, torsion bars, cross member, body spacers ,rear springs and welding strengthener brackets to the
suspension arms.
A lot of money for a small amount of extra lift but a very
well engineered set up.
Regards
Col

It's interesting that the LC100 has such weak
suspension arms that a stronger torsion bar cracks them.
Then ther'es the weak front diff and the propensity for the radiator fan to suck onto the radiator in a water crossing.
I suppose it's not news that Toyos are no longer tough.

It could be done with 4-inch drop brackets for the diff, control arms, crossmember and torsion bars. You then still have the option of cranking the torsion bars up 2-inch to give a 6-inch lift.
You may need a custom made front drive shaft to cope with it but

Gerhard *cough* Troll *cough* if you are a blind Nissan supporter you may want to look in your own backyard for the glasshouse before throwing stones. Then you might want to see what the new Patrol is going to offer in regards to
suspension.
Now, back in ya box.

I've got the ATS/DMc full setup installed by Macquarie 4X4. They put in a new cross member to drop the diff. The $2800 included the control arm weld.

Should have mentioned going 285X75XR16 tyres gives another 2".

Off-Track - what a perfect name for you.
I am not a blind Nissan supporter - I am an observer of things around me.
When and if Nissan offers a comparably weak new model, we will begin to find out where they are not as tough as they used to be.
For now, I merely observed that the new LC 100 needs brackets welded on if heavier torsion bars are fitted, they break front diffs, they suck the fan onto the radiator.
So - unless you have evidence that these items are not issues with the IFS LC100, you can go back in your box. :)

Nope, troll fits better. Havent heard the radiator one (other than the age old caution for any vehicle) but yes to the others. No worse than Nissan probs - have a look around you. The A-arms are apparently on some form of recall but can be strengthened for not much outlay if the owner is aware of it. The diffs,
well hopefully that will be fixed with the 130.

What's your hangup? Why do you re-iterate "no worse than Nissan problems"
Hear this - I WASN'T SAYING TOYOTA IS NO GOOD AND NISSAN IS PERFECT. I WAS NOTING THAT LC100 IS NOT AS TOUGH AS THE EARLIER TOYOTAS WERE.
I DIDN'T MENTION NISSAN AT ALL - YOU DID BECAUSE YOU ARE INSECURE OR SOMETHING.
Hopefully you are now on the same wavelength, since you acknowledge 2 of the three items I commented on, and admitted you know nothing of the third, but there's no shame in that. If you search the
forum you will find that problem described.

Richard - don't 285/75X16 only give an extra 1" as they are 2" in diameter lager than standard so only lift by the radius of 1"

My calcs from Bridgestone D694 275X70X16=792mm diameter to BFG Muds 285X75X16=841mm diameter. Difference=49mm=:1.9".
Rethinking it you are right as you only get 1" each side of the tyre centre as you said. Maths has never been my strong point.
