Thinking about upgrading the
suspension on my 100 series IFS.Has anybody got any feed back on the
suspension kit avaiable from Macquarie 4x4??????? Their
suspension seems to be considerably dearer than other brands on the market,is there any advantage to spending the extra money????????Any feed back would be grateful???????Any experiences would be good to hear.Thank you

barely,
I got my '04 IFS 100s done at Affordable Tyres &
Suspension (ATS) in
Geelong, Vic, four weeks ago. Absolutely brilliant. Their system was also in a 4x4 mag a few months ago but I can't remeber which one :-)
The torsion bars are up 17% and the rear rides about 60-70mm higher. It is a slightly firmer ride and more direct in the steering. My factory
suspension had sagged or was weighed down considerably due to rear bar, drawers, fridge and the usual recovery gear. The back of the truck now sits slightly higher than the front (as factory) even with the
Kimberley Kamper hooked up. I should have done the upgrade a couple of years ago!
The set up is torsion bars, heavy duty springs, A-arm reinforced and welded and Bilstein shocks all round.
I have no affiliation with ATS (apart from being an lcool member like Darren) but can highly recommend them - they will ship there parts to most areas for fittment by your mechanic.

.....PS - Also installed was a 'diff drop' kit - a member which lowers the front diff to keep the CVs at the correct angle.

I recently got a written quote fromTJM here in SA for the current IFS 100 series - don't own one, but have been thinking about trading up frommthe Jack and wanted some idea of modification costs. They claimed that the kit would raise the vehicle about 35mm all round (variable, depending on what gear was chosen) and make the ride noticeably firmer than standard. Fitting $ in Brackets.
Pair Torsion Bars $410 ($80)
Pair Rear Coils $200 ($75)
4 XGS 45mm twin tube gas shocks $796 (less $180 if choosing the 36mm version)
Polyairs for the rear $295 ($45 if fitted within a new spring job)
Pair strengthening brackets for lower control arm $30 ($35)
Wheel alignment $55.
May be of use in your decision making.

Another 2c's worth - my
test run was from Gippsland, Vic, to Corryong via Benambra last week & return. The truck was fully loaded as was the kamper - BIG drawbar weight - partly due to design, partly due to my packing on the generator etc - no sag after having the ATS4x4
suspension fitted. I was going to go for polyair bags but it was suggested they wouldn't be needed - Darren Mc was right! - There was no sag and no difference in height even with kamper attached.
IMHO polyair bags aren't needed with this
suspension setup.
