Jimbo
Pity you could not make it up for the car races. The weather is perfect ( maybe Brocky is looking over us for the "Perfect" weather). Great crowd building up and I think that "Bathurst" is going to be a big one. I am biased as I live here but there is a fantastic atmosphere this year.
A great tribute to the "King of the Mountain" over the whole weekend.
I met Brocky many years ago when he started racing with an Austin A40 with a Holden V8 motor in it at Catalina
Park,
Katoomba. Oh, the memories when I used to follow the car racing in those days. I always remember the Geoghan Bros, Norm Beechy (my idol then), Alan Moffit and many more.
The car races always bring back many great memories as I have lived in
Bathurst all my life.
Any way all the best to who ever wins this year and Jimbo maybe we will catch up again soon.
Cheers

I have a soft spot for the red lion as
well as I have owned 3 Commodores.
I have to admit that the atmosphere is different this year. All for the better that is.
I will be having a few homebrews over the weekend. For those who know me I am an avid homebrewer.
All the best.

Hi bigfellow.
Your post brought back memories of a great circuit. I only raced there once. What a great place. Are there any parts of the old circuit left or has it gone the way of such great tracks as Hume Weir & Amaroo.
Go the red devils

You're right and it was an A30.

Tim Schenken, ex F1 pilot now Race Director for the V8 Supercar Championship Series, also had one, used to test it nearby late at night when I was a tacker in suburban

Sadly one of the drivers from the prang last week didn't make it, as expected. (Had he survived he would have been quadriplegic.)
My thoughts go out to his family, a dangerous sport but a nevertheless.
(Bit like the space shuttle- many races/launches with no major drama and one becomes a bit blasé.)
Congrats to Craig,
well deserved.
