Hi all,first post.
Looking for any advice on my first 4wd dual cab.I dont want a petrol and have eliminated the courier and musso from my list, i need something reliable.I have narrowed it down to the Nissan Navara D22 SERIES DualCab and a dual cab diesel Hilux.
Had a test drive of a 2004 Nissan Navara D22 SERIES 2 DX (4X4) White 5 Speed Manual Dual Cab listed at $29000 today and liked it ,it had 70000km and came with a 3 year Australia wide, unlimited kilometre, AWN .Does this sound ok?Is 70000 to many kms?How long do these engines reliably last and does anybody have an idea on the cost of servicing especially the 100000 service?Any comments will be useful.
My main uses for the 4wd are commuting, towing a boat and trips to Fraser/
Moreton island etc
TIA

Jason is this Navara one of the 3lt ? if so are you aware of the Patrol and the 3lt probs they are having in these (exploding from within)? If not do a search in the archives here for the 3lt Patrol and have a read. I know bugger all reports of the 3lt going bang in the Navara but it would be a sad way to start off your 4wd ownership. Power of this vehicle should make it a beauty on
the beach though if you do end up buying it IMO.
I don't want to alarm or over excite 3lt owners but I do want to make sure Jason is aware of it.
Regards, trevor.

Bugger,i liked the engine in the Navara! I cant justify spending the money if there is a problem that Nissan are being secretive about.Might have to go Hilux now.Hilux has bigger back seats anyway. The Hilux 3 litre is not Turbo is it?Does it use much more fuel than the Navara?
Does anybody know if the a 2005 Courier 4 Litre petrol is anygood and if it can run on gas (would only get an engine this big if it was on gas)?
Sorry for all the Questions :)

Sorry Jason, can't answer all your questions here but the Hilux comes in both 3 Lt turbo and N/A, Turbo ones being later models. There is fuel consumption sheets in the "Trip Planning" section on the top of this website that may be able to help with fuel figures of many vehicles.
As for the Courier 4 Lt, I don't know a thing about them but possibly from the Ford
camp could it be the 250 cross flow from the Falcon???
Have Fun Car hunting.
Trevor.

Don't forget to have a good look at the Mitsubishi Triton, or if you don't want something so Flashy then check out the Dual Cab Landrover Defender with diesel,
