I don't like it. Takes longer to load. Was one page before now multiple pages. What does everyone else think?

I'm with you Leroy.
OI can click on threads, and navigate around fine. When I click 'trader', it sits there, and sits there .......

Try now it is instant - there are a few conversion jobs happening on the system at the moment and these sometimes cause a restart - when the system is restarting it causes all the images to be rebuilt - this takes around 20 secs. This will be gone in the next few days once I re-write the submit ad and single ad view pages.
Also just on performance there is a rebuild of the plotswap databse happening right now will take around 1 hour - this can have an effect on the system.

Leroy,
I have now adjusted the page control to make it stop rebuilding the image data each render so it should be really fast now. Let me know if you still have speed issues with it. I am still working on it but I will try to limit the number of updates I make to the server (this will stop the initial load delay).
As for paging - I am acutally trying to help out the lower speed users as a single page with 50 ads was around 125KB in text before any images were shown - add say 30% images so 15 odd images at 4 KB each makes it nearly 200KB per page for 50 ads. If we get say 100 ads per category or you use the All Category view it can be 300-400KB of ads plus images before the screen is shown - So this can be a real pain.
If you use the trader frequently you should only need to look at page one as the latest ads are shown first (I will make a note of this on the page). So in every category the display order is based on the submitted date with the newest ads always shown first - Of course if you are looking to the free ads they appear after the display ads so you may need to use paging or select a Since Date (of when you last looked) and you will only see ads since your last view - If you are a member this option is automatically available from the
My Home Page (you select the View Ads Since last visit option).

Hi David,
It loads a lot quicker now.
'If you use the trader frequently you should only need to look at page one as the latest ads are shown first '
That's fine if you select a catagory but if you select 'all catagories' then there is nothing to define the catagories on the pages unlike the old trader section. Also the old one was one long continuous page, you knew the new adds were at the top of either the display adds or the free adds and you could scroll down very quickly through the catagories. Now you have to click on the next page to go through each page. Takes too long for a quick look to see what new adds there are. Just my opinion, other may like the change!

Leroy,
Just load in a date of last visit or say a few days ago int eh date selection box and the results should be one one/two pages - depends on number of listings. ie: For all categories in the last week (ie after 5th Aug 2006) see this: Site Link this is currently as of this post two pages. Of course I could increase the number of results per page or even add ths ability for you to set the page size you would like say 25, 50 or 100 entries (then store this is a cookie or similar).
T. On the same line I could allow you to select weather the scroller is shown or not (sote theis preference in a cookie) - Is there a reason you do not like it - it does allow you to click on any image that takes your fancy and was designed to modernise the output.

H A T E flash... slows things down for people on dialup etc.
any site that has flash i usually bypass. or if theres a SKIP button, I search for it like an ant for a crumb.
I liked the way it was before. Just a page, with selections of what area, with WTD or FS... nice, clear and simple.
Maybe MORE sections would be better to divide things up, Interal parts Exterior parts etc.

I am thinking of also chaging the backgound colour or image for wanted ads this may help seperate the listings.
