auto aerial on GU

Can anyone tell me how to get the electric aerial motor out of the mudguard on a 98 GU Patrol. The nylon rope has broken and I can't remove it. Any ideas?

Is it still protruding? You can buy a kit to reinstall a new antenna with a new nylon geared strip as long as you can get to it. Need to undo
the nut round the top of the aerial to get to it though.
Failing that you have to remove the inner guard over the wheel, may be easier to remove the wheel to do it. Much easier if the tail of the antenna is still there!
