Can anyone tell me an insurance company who will insure a 2001 GU Nissan Patrol Wagon 3.0 litre Diesel. In particular I am looking for cover on all modifications including larger than standard tyres 285 75 R16. Also need cover for my 19 year old son who occasionally drives it. There must be someone in the same boat as me.
Any assistance would be appreciated

try Rob at KTA general insurance agencies at Strathalbyn - phone 8536 2022.
Tell him that Rick, ex the 'Bridge, recommended him.

nrma should - we're with them but i never thought of asking about the tyre thing....not that our big ones - same size - will be on for much longer.....we are covered for all mods etc......been a member for 7yrs + multi policy discount insurance for the 80 series (1994 gxl) cost $777 ...... pretty good seeing that most others give me quotes of $1200 +

good luck......our insurance covers me too - being under 25yrs...but im the female type of our species........

I think you will find that most of the main stream insurers will provide cover, however an additional premium and higher excess will most likely apply when the vehicle is being driven by your son.

Try QBE (but with a higher excess for the 19 yo) Also there are a number of interactive Insurance Company Web Sites that will give instant quotes.

Give TCIS insurance brokers in Adelaide a call. They have assisted getting me some specialist insurance for my revamped Landy. The issue I had was getting recognition for the value in it following the work done on it.

Having said that the mainstream insurers shouldn't have any problem with your requirements.

Hi David

Try NRMA.

If the person you speak to is not cooperative, try again and see if you can get to speak to someone else.

In the last week or so as I have had trouble with one person who couldn't understand my recent LPG installation to a diesel Patrol. Later I tried again on the same phone number and spoke to a very cooperative guy who took the time to ask his supervisor, problem now resolved (I hope!)

I had a similar experience with NRMA some years ago. It seems that some people in NRMA just say no if the answer is not clear and simple.

Also try NRMA number 1300 655 443 Technical Advice and describe the problem, they may help.

Good luck
Phil

Hi David,
I also live in SA and recently changed cover for my '01 LC100 to RAA. I have a number of extras which are included and my 17 yo drives it occasionally. Huge saving on previous insurer. Since you are in SA, it would be worth at least giving them a ring.
Cheers

Just signed with DGA, only one who would quote on heavily modded troopie, addition of LPG injection caused knockback by previous insurer CGI as insured sum was too great.
Funnily enough, they underwrite DGA and CGI recommended them......
