I was wondering if anyone has done the wiring for the replacement upper taillights on a series 4 Patrol. (blinker/reverse/brake combo lights)
The last time I did this job was on a series 2 patrol and it wasn’t overly difficult as both sides had plugs tucked away behind the dummy lights ready to be plugged into the new lights, the only hitch being you had two run two wires over to the other side to carry reverse and
park.
Not so easy this time, there doesn’t appear to be plugs on either side. If I have to splice every wire into the bumper lights then it’s going to be a mess of wiring down the back.
For those that have done this job already on a series 4 can you confirm the method you used. Also I was wondering if there is some sort of plug in wiring loom you can purchase to make the job easier. (Maybe another trailer plug loom adapted to run the upper lights ???)
Any information on the subject appreciated.

Not a GU, But I did it with my GQ. I ran the necessary extra wires up from the existing wiring in the bumper lights. Took about an hour to do both sides. Can't remember exactly, but I probably used trailer loom, I tend to use that for most of the "lower current" wiring in the Patrol.
Hope this helps

Spinifex,
My 12/05 build GU4 came with the wiring and plugs. I've fitted 'arab' spec lights. It was the same as the GU2. All I had to do was earth the new light and run the couple of wires from the opposite side. From memory - reverse and brake or tail.

Hi,
My series 4 ST also has the plugs available...taped back out of the way behind the light - reverse light only on one side though.
