Hey all just wondering if anyone has driven Savannah Way - Broome to Cairns. Im just after feedback on what people thought of the trip and the road conditions - Is it to much for inexperianced 4WDers? Have looked a few things up on the net but thought id ask here to.
Thanks Guys :-)

Ernie Dingo has been doing a story on the Savannah Way (east to west) on The Great Outdoors for the last two weeks, looks like they are going to be running a number of segments on the show for the next few weeks covering the entire length.

Did it last year - mixed off road with some bitumen - just because of places we wanted to go at that time - terrific trip - you can go either via the Gibb River Road or the bitumen making side trips along the way - either way - you see heaps of fantastic parts of this great country. Would do the whole thing again in an instant.

Jan it's still running, Ernie's only got as far as the NT border, so heaps of stuff yet to see. The GRR route is a must and El Questro whilst touristy is an excellent place. Try and do all the side trips take your time and enjoy. If you've got the stamina and time do the Mitchell Plateau, my wife said it better be worth it after millions of corrugations etc and she now raves about it and says the GRR was the best part of our entire Kimberley holiday. When you get to Derby try and do the Horizontal Waterfall flight and boat Trip not cheep but fantastic. Broome - hope you've pre booked. If going up to Cape Leveque try and get the short cut map from the van park in Derby it will save you a heap of miles and some absolutely crap roads (one way anyway). Best of luck with the holiday.

Cheers
