i put new disc pads on my 4by a while back, can't remember when about two months i think, anyway monday on way home from work the right front started making a noise so thought i better have a look in the weekend.well the pad has come off the steel plate and what a #$^%% mess. had to put new rotors and pads on today $300 later with gear oil that isn't cheap. has anyone had or heard of it before as it is a first for me. i can't remember for the life of me where i got them from but are trying to look back throgh records to see if i can do any thing about it. wish me luck.

Never heard of that problem before, but there have been pads coming out of Malaysia for a while and I suppose they now come out of china.

If the pads are anything like chinese cable ties you did well to get 2 months out of them.

Put Bendix in next time :)

I had the same thing happen to me on the way yo the cape lucky l carry a spare set have heard of it several times since my experience
Mine were "silver" brand suppose to be an American brand ? bought them from a reputable dealer they used the excuse heating and cooling going through water crossings was the culprit
Have since been told cheap pads are bonded - as in glued - where dearer pads are fused as part of the process of manufacture and don't separate
luckily l did not do too much damage to the disc it made such a racket when it happened l stopped and changed them
Only buy good brands now
