Well got to thinking that I am stuck with no help, What to do. Went and had a
look at what I carry.in the toolbox. Ended up using a 19mm socket with a
sidchrome fixed drive. Stood on it, sometimes jumped on it (Richard I weigh 100kg am told I need to lose it ) but managed to get the nuts loose and change the
wheels. Did think that I would bend the drive but no.Maybe would have if it was a
Supercheap one. Thanks to those who offered advice.
I think the best will be check the nuts if it goes in for a service as soon as you get it home. cheers Brian

Hi Brian,
Should have added this last time as I didn't pick up that you had yet to undo the nuts. I would have taking it back to your service centre, handed the manager the std wheel nut wrench and asked him to undo them for you. Rest assured, they'd get the message pretty quick and you'd not have the trouble of doing it yourself.

Had a similar problem some distance from
Broken Hill about four years ago. Put the wheel nut socket on the bar with a sliding half inch drive head which is about one foot long (don't know what it's called). Attached the spark plug socket to the normal extension bar (about one foot long again). Placed the spark plug socket over the end of the bar with the wheel nut socket on it giving me a tenuous lever two feet long and undid wheel nuts - thought I was going to bleep ter the spark plug socket but it held.
On return home went to Kmart and purchased telescopic half inch socket lever about 2.5 feet long when extended. Also called service people (main dealer) and "mentioned" the incident to them.

They must breed them tough at
Broken Hill. I had a similar problem with removing a wheel that had been tightened up in
Broken Hill. Luckily I had already bought my extended wheel brace, but it was still an effort to loosen the nuts.
Another place for tough nut tighteners is
Tibooburra.
Cheers
Jack

A few years ago when I was
young and fit, I had the same problem. Flat tyre and no way of getting the nuts off. Since then I always ask the tyre guys to do the last bit by hand. BUT when I bought a new set of tyres from my local tyre place I asked the new fitter to do em up by hand.
This big pig went off the handle, swore at me and generally went ballistic. As I'd asked nicely, I wasn't happy. The manager came out and apologised for the guy and explained that he couldnt do much as the fitter was the new partner!
I have never been to that place again. No other tyre place has taken exception to my asking.
But these days I carry a piece of pipe in the back, just in case I can't get the nuts off again.

I carry an old Hi Lift Jack handle for stubborn nuts.
I insist on
wheels being tightened by wheel spanner and my tyre blokes are trained. I very seldom get someone else to work on my tyres as it is and do all the mucking around my self...lol Just plonk your arse in the dirt and lift the wheel on:-)
